2022 Fall Quarter Graduate Spotlight – Master Sgt. David C. Nass, U.S. Marine Corps
In his NPS thesis, “From Dropping Bombs to Blasting Bits,” U.S. Marine Corps Master Sgt. David C. Nass explores a tactical gap in the execution of #operations in the #information #environment. The exemplary research earned Nass the Fall Quarter’s Monterey Peninsula Council of the Navy League Lt. Cmdr. Tom Winant Award for Highest Academic Achievement, the highest academic award presented to a graduating student each quarter.
Nass, an upcoming graduate of NPS’ Applied Design for Innovation curriculum through the Department of Defense Analysis, conducted detailed analyses highlighting the importance of Joint Terminal Attack Controllers in theatre air-ground integration. He argues for a similar position in the information operations space, advising commanders on the information environment, and the #tactical #tools available to create desired effects.
2022 Fall Quarter Graduate Spotlight – Maj. Megan A. Tucker, U.S. Army
Meet U.S. Army Maj. Megan A. Tucker, a Psychological Operations officer and one of 337 graduates celebrating the completion of their NPS studies this Friday, Dec. 16, during the Fall Quarter #graduation ceremony. Graduating with a Master of Science in Information Strategy and Political Warfare, Tucker’s #research investigated #diversity and #inclusion (D&I) issues for the U.S. Special Operations Command (SOCOM) enterprise. Through exploration of oversight policy and guidance, existing D&I research, and interviews with command D&I leaders, Tucker identified three central challenges to address, and offered potential solutions, with the goal of achieving a diverse and inclusive SOCOM ready to meet the demands of #strategic #competition and #integrated #deterrence.
2022 Fall Quarter Graduate Spotlight – Lt. Julian Salmon, U.S. Navy
U.S. Navy Lt. Julian Salmon used his classified NPS research thesis to analyze #smart #technology advancements and trends in East Asia, focused specifically on their potential to impact the DOD’s ability to plan and conduct operational activities in the region. Through an understanding of a technology-enabled future operational environment, Salmon assesses the DOD’s ability to maintain the adaptability necessary to meet future operational requirements.
Salmon is an #information #warfare #officer graduating from NPS’ regional Security Studies program focused on the East Asia and Indo Pacific region. He has been awarded the Naval Intelligence Foundation’s Admiral Bobby Ray Inman Award for Excellence in Intelligence for his research, as well as NPS’ Superior Service Award for his efforts outside of the classroom. Salmon is one of 337 students graduating this quarter who’s classified and applied research provides #innovative #solutions to #naval and #defense #challenges.

The Honorable Carlos Del Toro, 78th Secretary of the Navy, offered the commencement address for the NPS Fall Quarter graduating class on Friday, December 16, 2022, in King Auditorium.
In total, 337 U.S. and international military officers, U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) civilians, and homeland security professionals completed their studies this quarter.

SECNAV Congratulates NPS Fall Quarter Graduates, Announces New Naval Education Vision

Secretary of the Navy (SECNAV) Carlos Del Toro recognized 337 graduates, including 40 international students from 24 countries as the commencement speaker for the Naval Postgraduate School (NPS) during the school’s Fall Quarter graduation ceremony, Dec. 16.
Del Toro, a former Navy surface warfare officer and an alumnus of NPS’ space systems engineering program, also had a new announcement to the graduating class. Read more...
2022 Fall Quarter Class
A total of 337 U.S. and international military officers, and DOD civilians, completed their studies this quarter. The Summer Quarter class includes 108 U.S. Navy graduates; 30 U.S. Marine Corps graduates; 56 U.S. Army graduates; 2 U.S. Coast Guard graduates; 34 U.S. Air Force graduates; 1 U.S. Space Force; 2 U.S. Naval Reserves; 64 DOD civilian graduates, and 40 international graduates representing 24 countries.
