The Department of Operations Research (OR) at the Naval Postgraduate School (NPS) is in an exciting period of growth and seeks applications for an open-rank tenure-track position in the area of Statistics and Data Science, with particular interest in candidates with expertise in applied statistics, machine learning, data mining, and/or experimental design and analysis.

The Department of Operations Research at NPS in Monterey, California is one of the oldest and largest OR departments in the world. Our students are primarily military officers from the U.S. and its allies pursuing Master’s degrees in defense-oriented OR topics. The department has over 40 faculty members, with 23 tenure-track professors, who do research in wide range of fields including data science, statistics, optimization, stochastic modeling, and simulation. Our research addresses important and challenging problems in national security and we foster close collaborations with U.S. Navy and Department of Defense sponsors, as well as other universities.
